I have a couple of questions about the snipe bid placement if the snipe amount I entered is higher than the next ebay increment. I placed a snipe at $12 for an item that was at $10.50 within 1 minute of the auction close. My bid was placed for $12. I would have expected this to be the next bid increment or $11. Am i missing something ?
As it turns out I was out bid by a bid that was placed earlier. Proxy bid I guess. Not sure how that got in there with 10 secs left. Do I need to lower the snipe timing to 6 secs or would this have happened in any case ?

It would happen anyway as someone bid higher than you.
In order to win, you have to be the highest, not the latest.
If nobody bid higher, your final price will be the previous bid plus increment as you mentioned.
