Do you need to place a bid on an item in Ebay before activating your snipe?

Or will myibay still do its job before the final seconds of the auction and place your bid even if you haven't placed an inital bid in Ebay?

You don't need to place a bid.

The only reason when you want to place a minimum manual bid if you are not sure if the seller might have a block on you for some reasons (that's usually not an issue when you are in US and the seller in US too).
