myibay vs. eBay Proxy Bidding Sat Jun 12, 2010 11:29 AM Quote

Please understand this is a serious question and not meant to be a flippant criticism. I've been reading about your program and am trying to understand what advantage there would be to using it as opposed to eBay's proxy bidding. Don't they both do the same thing? Doesn't the proxy system enter up to your maximum up to the last second of the bidding? In other words, what advantages does myibay offer as opposed to the eBay system? I am interested but want to conceptually understand before going to myibay. Thanks for the help/explanation.

Sniping does not give enough time for the other bidder to respond to your bid.

For example:
Someone (let's call him John, no offense please) placed a bid for amount of $200.00. Nobody else bid so John is hoping to get an item for $200.00
You scheduled a snipe for amount of $300. Obviously, John does not know about it.
At last seconds your snipe came into the game, outbidding John's bid and making the winning price to be $202.50 only.
John wishes to outbid you (that's just $2.50 after all), but has no time to do it because auction is ended.

If you would place a proxy bid for $300 hours or days before auction ended, then John would probably try to outbid you, so you would either end up with a higher price or loose the item to John (or another bidder).

1) ebays servers are glitchy and I lost items because of them
2) once , by total fluke, my internet cable went out, 1 minute before the end of an auction that I had been waiting for all week.
THAT is when I searched out and found THIS wonderful program.
