I already tried out the free Android app on my phone and enjoyed it (even was considering buying it's pro version), so I figured I'd go download and try the iPad app on my new iPad Mini to see if I liked it as much.

To my disappointment, it seems there is no free version, only an almost-$10 version you have to pay for before you even get to try it out... Can someone give me an explanation for the vast differences between the Android version(s) and iPad version? Even the Android Pro version is $2 cheaper...

Android version runs a special promotion now, that's why it's cheaper.
It should be the same price when promotion is over.

The Web version is still free if you don't want to pay for it, no problems here.
The Web version is intendent to stay free no matter on other promotions on mobile apps.

The promotion explains the Android version's cheaper price (I do not see any mention of a sale or promotion in the app listing on Google Play Store, by the way), but still you didn't say why there is no free version to test for the iPhone/iPad version like there is for Android devices....

There is a version to test on App Store for iPad as well. Please check.

The second one on the right is usually free. Should be back to free on Monday morning.
