Let there be scroll bars. Sun May 04, 2008 08:26 PM Quote

Being unable to expand the item description field (the table line won't allow itself to expand the right edge of the window by creating horizontal scroll bars). Narrowing the window creates scroll bars. This is good. So I expand the field widths to my choosing. I re-expand the right edge of the window, the fields re-size themselves, and the scroll bars are gone.

So I narrow the window again, and leave it more narrow. Fix things up as above. Make the window just a bit wider, and their go the scroll bars and fields widths, again.

STOP THIS. (-:

Please use a different control. Let there be scroll bars and leave them there. i.e. Have things act as most every other window does.

Scroll bars are done by Windows automatically, I don't control them.
What happens when you maximize your window? Is it better for your purposes or not at all?
Please let me know so I can think about something to work around this problem.

No better as I cannot make the description field as big as I want. I am limited by screen real estate - it will not grow scroll bars.

This is not Windows (too many other windows work as expected). This is the control you are using. You need a better window widget. (My best guess.)

As an example, go to Windows Explorer, detail view. Make a column very big - watch the scroll bars appear. And, as far as I know, no combination of actions you can make will cause the field widths to shrink in order to remove the need for a scroll bar.

As the window widget you are using does.

Thanks for suggestion.
