Bid not placed - erroneous message saying Your snipe was too low due to eBay's bid increment system Sat Mar 18, 2017 11:34 PM Quote

I have never had any issues with MyIbidder and have always enjoyed its great service and reliability. This week I had 2 oddball experiences that resulted in my bid not being placed. The one from today was very disappointing. I had a snipe set to launch 8 seconds prior to auction close and my maximum bid was $1226.89. The item sold for $750.00 and I had a message saying "Your snipe was too low due to eBay's bid increment system" I am curious what happened and what I can do to prevent it from happening again.

Earlier this week I had placed a maximum bid of just over $500 for an item. It sold for $124 and change, and I never received any messages as if the bid never launched.

Before using MyIbidder I used a program (now defunct) called Auction Sentry. Toward the end of their service any bid > 1000 would cause the software to not place the snipe. Curious if eBay, etc has changed anything similar. I had 2 other snipes to launch, one had a max bid of $5.99 and the other was under $500.

The status is incorrect. There was invalid response from eBay which caused that.
It seems like this was because of some issue on eBay's side when they started to insert captcha. It appears this happens during heavy loads around weekends.
Sorry for the lost snipes.

Thanks Sashka,

If I may ask what is captcha? Would setting my bid end time further away from the actual end time assist? I have never had any issues with Myibidder until this week. In past it has always been rock solid. Thx John

Never mind.. understand the captcha.. just never have seen eBay do that via a manual bid before. Hopefully isn't something they will continue doing.
