is there any reason NOT to show shipping costs before the end of auction?


I'd prefer to see them all the time, if possible.

There are some auctions where they are not shown even after the end of bidding.

The thing is that shipping cost is not always reliable especially when it's calculated dynamically.
What do you have in "My Country" setting? If you still have "eBay US", then try to put "eBay Germany".

There may be variations, both when different options are given and when different prices are listed for different countries.

I feel it would be good enough to have anything, even if not reliable.

But I do not understand why the cost can be shown when the item is finished, but not before. It does not change on end of auction.

The layout of eBay page changed so parser can find it.

It's always annoying when ebay changes the layout, while using a parser.

Currently, on ebay.de, I see e.g.

a new one:
Versand:</th><td colspan="3" class="vi-is1-clr"><span id="fshippingCost" class="vi-is1-sh-srvcCost vi-is1-hideElem vi-is1-showElem">EUR 5,00</span>

an ended one:
Versand:</th><td colspan="3" class="vi-is1-clr"><span id="fshippingCost" class="vi-is1-sh-srvcCost vi-is1-hideElem vi-is1-showElem">EUR 2,50</span><

... so I do not see any difference here, grepping e.g. for

<span id="fshippingCost"[^>]*>(EUR|USD|\D*)? ?([^>]*)<\/span>

I do not know which page you parse, but the linked item pages does show the same info before and after ending.

It's a matter of adjusting the parser?

What do you have in "My Country" setting in your Profile?

Yes, if you set it to Germany then it should login to get the shipping info.
What's the item number in question?

I've tried to send you a screenshot by email.

No cost is shown e.g. for #300568548954,

but no cost is ever shown before the end, while it is shown many times after the end. That's what could be improved, since sniping is most effective when you consider (and compare) the total price, including shipping.

This can be adjusted better within the myibay overviews, although I would prefer some kind of sort and filter functions here.
