Firefox plug-in is unable to determine price on some auctions. Snipes have “?” Sun Jul 29, 2012 12:23 AM Quote

Hello. I've been having some difficulty with the Firefox plug-in recently. It seems that some auctions confuse Myibidder and the plug-in is unable to determine the price.

Take the following auction for example...

http://tinyurl.com/cg29rwf Item number: 221084007897

The current bid is listed as “Economy 0.0” and the snipe section will have “Economy” right before the input box.

I'm wondering if snipes with "?" right before the price are valid and will work. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

The "?" does not affect sniping. That just means the Myibidder was not able to determine the currency. But since sniping is done using the same currency as listed in the listing, it does not affect the actual sniping.

I checked your link and I see the current bid was recognized properly. Are you still having issues?
Also, next time, please include the direct eBay link instead of tinyurl link.

Thank you for the quick reply. Yes, unfortunately I'm still having the "?" issue on some auctions.

Here's a few more links that are giving me trouble...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200797665209

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200797679922

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=251117956495

The problem seems to be somewhat random and is perhaps caused by shipping type and shipping calculation.

I've noticed with the Firefox plug-in that the current bid is listed on some auctions as "Calculate 0.0" and the My Bid input box has "Calculate" before it.

I also use the Myibidder Windows application and some snipes imported by the Firefox plug-in have "?0.00" for the Current Bid and "?" right before My Bid price. Any further assistance would be appreciated. Thank you

Sorry to be a pain but I just noticed that the "?" will not happen if an auction has a bid.

The auction must have no bidders for the "?" problem to appear for me. I though this info could prove useful to you. Thanks

I just tried the first two links (none of them have bids) and both of them worked fine.
Can you try to add them after you logout from Myibidder and see if you get the correct value before you login? If you do, please let me know your eBay user id as it seems like you have some customizations set.

Logging out will show the correct price for auctions that have no bids for me. However when I log in the "?" issue appears again.

Auctions with the “?” will not be updated for me and seem to be invalid. Several auctions with “?” received bids since I placed my snipe and the Windows application and Web Interface still show ?.0.00 for the price.

I've sent you my Ebay ID via the Contact Form on the main page. I tried sending it via a Private Message but these forums don’t seem to support that feature. Thank you for your assistance; it’s appreciated.

I disabled PM due to spam in the past.
I found the difference and updated the code to reflect that. Please check when you have a moment.

The "?" issue is now resolved for individual auctions; Thank you.

However when placing multiple snipes at once via the Snipe These tab (Firefox plug-in) the "?" problem still remains.

Any auction that does not have a bid will have ?0.00 for price and a "?" right before My Bid when using the Snipe These tab.

I use the Snipe These tab frequently so any further assistance would be appreciated. Thank you

You just said that it was resolved. Are you still having issue on the ones which were resolved or these are different ones?
If these are different ones, please provide eBay link.

Please go to the following eBay link and click on the Snipe These tab via the Firefox plug-in...

http://www.ebay.com/sch/Video-Games-Consoles-/1249/i.html?item=200797090813&_sop=1&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME%3AX%3ARTQ%3AUS%3A1123&_ssn=wvhyperboy#

For me any auction that does not have a bid will have ?0.00 for price and a "?" right before My Bid either in the Myibidder Windows application or Web Interface.

Here are some links for individual auctions that have the "?" issue when using the Snipe These tab…

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200797674387

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200797671688

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200797663586

Please keep in mind that individually adding these auctions will not cause the "?" problem to appear since you fixed the issue.

You must add several auctions at once via the Snipe These Tab on Firefox for the problem to now happen. Thank you

I could not replicate the issue. I added several items from your list which have no bids, and all of them were added with no problems.

My guess is that the items you see with "?" were added some time ago before the code was updated, so you just need to refresh them or re-add them individually so it will force the refresh.
Adding in bulk (i.e using "Snipe these") does not refresh item's information.

Or you can always ignore old listings with "?" since it does not affect sniping.
Your new listings should not have "?" anymore.

Aha, when I try a different seller the Snipe These tab works fine.

It was just as you said; Snipe These does not refresh. This is why when I went to the auctions individually I was able to see the price properly.

My apologies for not trying a different seller to see if the "?" issue was fully resolved. I regret wasting your time; I should have been more thorough.

Everything is working fine now. Thank you for the excellent support; it's greatly appreciated. Now I can go back to sniping in peace ;)
